Consuelo González Rodríguez

She is the head of the trademark department. With more than 30 years of extensive experience advising clients on the selection, use, and protection of trademarks, which also extends to legal opinions, preparation and prosecution of domestic and foreign trademarks, portfolio management, and contractual matters such as licenses, transfer coexistence and collaboration agreements.

Connie also conducts intellectual property due diligence investigations for corporate transactions and financing matters, and prepares assignments, security agreements and recordal. Her experience encompasses a wide variety of industries, including computer technology and services, fashion and luxury goods, food and beverages, gaming, technology hardware and equipment and telecommunications. She is an active member of the Mexican Association for the Protection of Industrial Property (AMPPI), the Mexican Bar Association (Barra Mexicana, Colegio de Abogados), the lnter-American Association of Industrial Property (ASIPI), The International Trademark Association
(INTA), Pharmaceutical Trademark Group (PTMG). She was the coordinator of Intellectual Property Committee since 2012 until 2016, and actually she is the current Vice-President Elect of the National Association of Business Lawyers (ANADE).

Background

Consuelo joined Uhthoff in 1981 and was appointed as a Partner in 1991. She holds a Law Degree from Universidad La Salle in Mexico City and an Economic and Corporate Law Diplomat in Universidad Panamericana. She is fluent in Spanish and English.

Memberships / Professional Activities

Mrs. Gonzalez has collaborated with the Mexican Industrial Property Institute on the adaptation and translation into Spanish of the Catalogue of the International Classification of Goods and Services issued by the World Intellectual Property Organization.

Due to her extensive expertise in national and international procedures, in November 2007 Consuelo was elected general secretary of the AMPPI to coordinate different committees, whose members are mostly lawyers from the leading firms in Mexico.

She is member of the Mexican Association for the Protection of Industrial Property (AMPPI), the Mexican Bar Association (Barra Mexicana, Colegio de Abogados), the lnter-American Association of Industrial Property (ASIPI), The International Trademark Association (INTA), Pharmaceutical Trademark Group (PTMG) and Asociación Nacional de Abogados de Empresa (ANADE). She was the coordinator of Intellectual Property Committee since 2012 until 2016. At the beginning of 2017 she joined the Board of Directors of ANADE, where she currently holds the Vice Presidency.

She also has been professor on Theory of Economics, la Salle University, Faculty of Law.
