Eryck Castillo Orive

Eryck has more than 30 years’ experience in trademark and domain name portfolio management for Mexican and international companies, at both domestic and international levels. He is an expert counsel for clients in need of serious, objective and practical solutions to their everyday needs. These are derived from specialized studies in intellectual property conducted in Mexico and abroad, in addition to the values that have been fostered in the law firm since its foundation over 110 yearsago, which were taught to him by some of its founders.

His practice includes both prosecution and enforcement. Eryck is the current President Elect of the AMPPI. He is member of the Unreal Campaign Committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA), a member of the Trademark Committee of AIPPI and of the Geographical Indications Committee of the European Communities Trademark Association (ECTA).


Mr Castillo is well known throughout the IP world. He was educated in Mexico and holds a law degree from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, Mexico City (1993) and a Master’s in Intellectual Property from the Franklin Pierce Law Center, United States (1994). He also holds a diploma in IP law from Universidad Panamericana, Mexico City (1996), and continues his education by attending seminars throughout the world.

Eryck is fluent in Spanish and English.

Eryck is the author of several articles about Intellectual Property issues, besides being a lecturer in various universities and associations. Today it continues to be updated by attending seminars around the world.

He is the current President of the Mexican Association of Lawyers of Industrial Property (AMPPI), is chairman of the Subcommittee on Policy Development of the Committee of Unfair Competition in International Trademark Association (INTA), is a member of the Standing Committee of Intellectual property of AIPPI and the Geographical Indications Committee of the European Communities Trade Association (ECTA).
